Located in purpose-built
facilities, Harlan Laboratories environmental science
team has extensive experience and expertise in a wide range of
ecotoxicty and biodegradation tests for the chemical, agrochemical
and pharmceutical industries.
Basic acute or prolonged exposure toxicity
studies, reproduction tests, biodegradation/elimination and
bioaccumulation studies are performed according to international
test guidelines.
The tests conducted include but are not limited
to:
- Acute and reproduction tests in Daphnia
magna
- Acute toxicity tests with the marine invertebrates
Acartia tonsa, Tisbe battaglial and Mysidopsis
bahia
- Algal growth tests with a variety of freshwater and
marine species
- Acute toxicity tests with Lemna
sp.
- Acute and chronic toxicity tests with freshwater and
marine fish
- Fish early-life-stage tests
- Fish bioaccumulation studies
- Biodegradation testing
- Activated sludge respiration inhibition
tests
- Hydrolysis tests
- Adsorption/desorption screenings and full
studies
- Soil and sediment simulation tests
- Study of effects on soil micro-organisms
- Bacterial toxicity tests
- Earthworm acute and reproduction toxicty
tests
- Short-term toxicity to
plants
For refined risk assessment a range of
sophisticated higher-tier studies under more realistic
environmental conditions are available in invertebrate and fish
species from in-water sediment systems in the laboratory to outdoor
mesocosm pond studies.
