Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics

Harlan Laboratiories performs all metabolism studies necessary to characterise the absorption, tissue distribution and depletion, metabolism and elimination profiles in vivo and to interpret toxicological findings.

  • 14C, 3H and 125I-radiolabelled materials
  • All relevant species
  • All administration routes, single / multiple dosing

A set of tests, mainly in vitro, is available to study specific reaction pathways and to predict drug-drug interactions:

  • CYP interaction, inhibition and induction
  • Metabolic stability with liver S9 preparation
  • Phase II reactions, i.e. conjugation
  • Protein binding
  • Dermal penetration

Analytical techniques to characterise and identify metabolites:

  • HPLC, GC, CE, TLC
  • LC-MS/MS and GC-MS
  • Whole body autoradiography (QWBA)
  • Real-time (quantitative) PCR
  • Access to NMR
