Standard PCR is commonly employed for genotyping transgenic or knockout colonies. We utilize high quality, high fidelity Taq polymerase from Applied Biosystems to drive PCR in our genotyping applications. To ensure that there are no inhibitors of PCR that could lead to inaccuracies in colony maintenance, every sample is run with an internal PCR control to ensure that all DNA is of PCR quality. In addition, to maximize throughput and sensitivity of detection, Harlan GenScreen™ employs
Lab-on-a-Chip technology from Caliper (AMS90) to detect and size all DNA products. This provides a sensitivity of +/- 2 base pairs on sizing the band of interest and also ensures that even the lowest copy number samples are detected.
