Harlan GenCheck™ SNP Profiling

Projects that require a finer resolution of genetic monitoring will benefit from the informatics and technology utilized in the Harlan GenCheck™ SNP Profiling program. A panel of over 500 SNPs is employed to evaluate all autosomes in the mouse genome to convey a level of specificity required for genetic monitoring, strain verification and speed congenic applications. The Beckman SNPstream® high order 48-plex, single base extension technology is used exclusively for the Harlan GenCheck™ SNP Profiling program. Picogram amounts of DNA are used for each multiplex reaction yielding a call rate of greater than 98 percent for all assays in predefined panels. All multiplex reactions are prepared using sophisticated laboratory automation, allowing for the generation of over 500,000 SNPstream® genotypes daily, which ensures that your project is completed in an efficient and timely manner. Similar to the Harlan GenCheck™ Strain Microsatellite Profiling program, all data is provided in a user friendly proprietary Harlan GenScreen™ database that is accessible through the World Wide Web using an independent and secure login for Harlan GenCheck™ program participants. A variety of statistical and graphical interfaces allows your program manager to interpret the genetic basis for each strain being evaluated. For novel congenic strains or recombinant inbred lines, Harlan will create custom panels. The Harlan GenCheck™ program can be tailored to suit your specific scientific goals.

The Harlan GenCheck™ Strain Microsatellite Profiling or SNP Profiling programs are useful for a variety of applications including but not limited to: detection of genetic contamination due to mismating, evaluation of backcrossing (speed congenic programs) and routine genetic monitoring.

Traditional backcrossing requires up to three years, Harlan GenCheck™ can reduce that time by more than 50 percent, facilitating the discovery process.
