Environmental Science

Located in purpose-built facilities, the Harlan Laboratories environmental science team has extensive experience and expertise in a wide range of ecotoxicity (aquatic and terrestrial), biodegradation, analytical and physico-chemical tests, environmental fate (lab and field), animal (ADME, DMPK, PK screening and toxicokinetic testing) and plant metabolism studies for the chemical, agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Studies are performed according to the international test guidelines of OECD, EU, EPA/OPPTS, ISO and JMAFF in full accordance with Good Laboratory Practice; however, the environmental science team also offers a full range of non-GLP and screening studies to suit your needs.

Our scientific experts, in combination with their colleagues from regulatory affairs, can provide advice on and design testing programs to suit the needs of your regulatory requirements on a worldwide basis for all types of chemicals. For refined risk assessments, a range of sophisticated higher-tier studies under more realistic environmental conditions are available in invertebrate and fish species from in-water sediment systems in the laboratory to outdoor mesocosm pond studies.
