Harlan Laboratories has a broad background and expertise in performing analyses in support of mammalian and ecotoxicology studies on industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, biocides and pharmaceutical products.

With modern, purpose-built facilities, the Harlan Laboratories analytical team has extensive experience in performing chemical analyses of difficult substances with challenging physico-chemical properties. Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and offer a comprehensive array of analytical techniques such as:

MaXis TOF-MS, HPLC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, IC, GPC GC, GC-MS, UV/Vis, FT-IR, AAS.

Analytical testing conducted within Harlan Laboratories includes, but is not limited to:

  • Analysis of dose formulations and tissues for mammalian studies
  • Test item characterization and analysis of air chambers for inhalation studies
  • Analysis of dose solutions, aqueous, soil, sediment and tissue samples for ecotoxicology studies
  • Analytical method development and validation in study-specific matrices
  • Specific analyte determinations in various matrices
  • Purity and impurity determinations on products and formulations (REACH, 5-batch)
  • Spectra and structural elucidation studies (e.g., unknown impurities in   5-batch studies)
  • Isolation and certification of unknown impurities
  • Residue analysis of environmental samples
  • Overall and specific migration studies

Our analytical laboratories are very familiar with many sample extraction techniques such as:

  • Liquid/liquid extraction
  • Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)
  • Twister and Solid Phase Micro Extraction (SPME)
  • Accelerated Solvent Extraction (ASE)

Harlan's analytical facilities operate to GLP requirements, but can conduct studies without GLP compliance. We are able to operate in a principal investigator role for multi-site studies, if required.

In addition, our staff is able to provide advice and recommendations on study design, particularly for bespoke analytical studies.
