The ACI inbred rat was derived from Columbia University, 1926 from an accidental mating between an August male with an Irish coat, and a Copenhagen 2331 female. Derived from a nucleus colony obtained from Dr. A. Segaloff’s colony at the Ochsner Medical Center, Jefferson, Louisiana.
