The B10 congenic line was developed by George D. Snell, Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, to Clinical Research Centre, Harrow. From Clinical Research Centre to OLAC (now Harlan Laboratories) in 1977.

The inbred partner is C57BL/10Sn and the donor strain is RIII/WyJ, resulting in the differential locus H-2r
