Produced in

The Diabetic mutant mouse originates from the Dunn Nutritional Laboratory, Cambridge, United Kingdom; to Olac, United Kingdom, in 1979; to Harlan Laboratories, United States, in 2000.

Related Genotypes (lean animals):

  • Heterozygous Nomenclature:
    • BKS.Cg-Dock7m +/+ Leprdb/OlaHsd (Black, Lean)
  • Wild type Nomenclature:
    • BKS.Cg-Dock7m  +/Dock7m +/OlaHsd (Misty, Lean)

Our breeding scheme maintains Dock7m and Leprdb in repulsion.  These genes are closely linked; however, recombination could occur. Our mice are most likely nonrecombinants, but they have not been tested.  Genetic testing is required to distinguish heterozygotes from wild type animals.
