The RCC Beagle colony started in 1982 at BRL Biological Research Laboratories Ltd., Switzerland as a mix of 3 origins including: Kleintierfarm Madorin, Fullinsdorf, Switzerland, Marshall Farms, North Rose, USA and Hazleton Research Products, Kalamazoo, USA. In 1992 two more males and 10 females from Marshall Farms were integrated into this breeding colony for upgrading the genetic outbred status. Harlan Laboratories obtained the colony through acquisition in 2004. Colonies are available in France and Germany.
