Teklad Global Rabbit Diets are nutritionally complete pelleted
diets formulated to meet the known nutrient requirements of the
rabbit during growth, reproduction and maintenance.
High-quality plant protein sources supply the proper amounts and
proportions of essential amino acids necessary to promote the
general health and condition of rabbits during all phases of the
life cycle.
Teklad Global Rabbit Diets contain dehydrated alfalfa meal, a
high-quality forage ingredient which promotes the proper
functioning of the digestive system. The protein in alfalfa meal
also is utilized well by rabbits.
Mineral and vitamin fortification of these diets ensures an
adequate nutritional balance to promote the proper growth,
development, maintenance, and reproduction of research
rabbits.
Shelf Life - The recommended shelf life of
Teklad Global Rabbit Diets is six months in North America and 9
months in Europe (due to differences in local practices and
regulatory oversight). However, storage conditions may affect
shelf life. To achieve optimum shelf life, store the diets in a
cool, dry, pest-free area away from hazardous materials.
Feeding Directions - Rabbits may be limit-fed
by placing a certain amount of feed in crocks or feeding hoppers
once a day. Limit-feeding during maintenance and gestation is an
efficient method of meeting the nutritional needs of the rabbit,
yet it prevents excess weight gain. Rabbits also may be self-fed by
placing feed in a hopper where they may eat at will. This method is
most efficient for growing rabbits, lactating does, and young
breeding stock.
Consumption Rate - Rabbit feeding requirements
will vary with rabbit breed, age, and size. Through observation and
controlled feeding, the proper body condition can be maintained for
maximum performance. A ten-pound New Zealand white rabbit will
consume approximately 150 g of Teklad Global Rabbit Diet per
day.
