 B10 Congenic Mice Origin

  • This B10 congenic mouse was developed by Dr. Jack H. Stimpfling, The McLaughlin Research Institute, Montana, to GD Searle, High Wycombe.  From GD Searle to OLAC (now Harlan Laboratories) in 1978.
  • The inbred partner is C57BL/10Sn and the donor strain is C57BR/cd.

B10 Congenic Mice Characteristics

  • Coat: Black
  • Haplotype: H-2k
  • Mean survival 113 ± 3.8 weeks

B10 Congenic Mice Research Use 

  • Low brain glutamic acid decarboxylase in B10.BR and C57BL/10ScSn substrains
  • The congenic line B10.BR is susceptible to induction of subcutaneous tumors by 3-methylcholanthrene
