B10 Congenic Mice Origin

  • This B10 congenic mouse was developed by George D. Snell, the Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, to GD Searle, High Wycombe. From GD Searle to OLAC (now Harlan Laboratories) in 1978.
  • The inbred partner is C57BL/10Sn and the donor strain is DBA/2

B10 Congenic Mice Characteristics

  • Coat: Black
  • Haplotype: H-2d
  • Mean survival 122 ± 4.0 weeks

B10 Congenic Mice Research Use

  • Low antibody affinity and small quantity of antibody produced in B10.D2/n
  • High immune response to ferritin in C57BL/10 and congenic lines B10.M, B10.D2, B10.BR and B10.A
  • This congenic line is highly susceptible to infection by Salmonella typhimurium strain C5.
