  • FVB/NHsd:  Derived from a nucleus colony obtained from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, in 1988.
  • FVB/NHanTMHsd:  Derived from a nucleus colony obtained from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, in 1988 to Harlan Nederland through acquisition of Central Institute for Laboratory Animal Breeding (ZfV), Hannover, Germany

FVB Inbred Mice Characteristics

  • Coat: Albino
  • Litter average:  8.5
  • Haplotype:  H-2q
  • Swiss background mouse with good reproductive characteristics
  • Fertilized eggs contain large and prominant pronuclei
  • Impaired vision due to the homozygosity of the recessive rd (retinal degeneration) mutation
