DPP4 Mutant Rat Origin
- The DPP4 mutant rat was a spontaneous mutation in Fischer 344
rats, which caused a deficiency in DPPIV, was identified by Dr.
Douglas C. Hixson at Rhode Island Hospital.
DPP4 Mutant Rat Characteristics/Strain
Information
- Coat: Albino
- Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV/CD26) is a serine proteinase
that is involved in cleaving N-terminal dipeptides of X-Ala or
X-Pro from polypeptides and proteins
- DPPIV is potentially involved in regulation of immune,
endocrine, and nervous system functions
- DPPIV is widely distributed throughout the body and is present
in the kidney, liver, small intestine, salivary gland, and
serum
- The molecular basis of the DPPIV deficiency appears to be due
to the translation of an enzymatically inactive protein
DPP4 Mutant Rat Research Use
- Liver Cell Transplantation
