TR- Mutant Rat Origin
- The TR- mutant rat was developed after observation of a
spontaneous mutation (Abcc2) in outbred Wistar
Unilever stock maintained at the Amsterdam Academic Medical Center
(AMC). Nucleus colony was acquired by Harlan from AMC in 2001.
Production colonies were developed from rederived stock in
2002.

Abcc2
- Defective canalicular Multispecific Organic Anion Transporter
(cMOAT), which mediates hepatobiliary excretion of nonbile salt
organic anions
- cMOAT is a liver specific Multidrug Resistance-associated
Protein 2 (MRP2) located on the surface of
hepatocytes
- Mild chronic conjugated hyperbilirubinemia
